What can I say about my first trip to Canada? I visited Alberta during fall on an Instagram campaign put together by the Canadian Tourism Commission. Of course I knew that Canada would be beautiful, but I thought it would beautiful in a subtle way. Nothing, and I mean nothing, can prepare you for your first glimpse of the Rocky Mountains. They rise majestically from the earth and give you reason to pause and exhale.

I had literally never seen anything more beautiful than the tree lined road leading to the Rockies on our way out of Calgary. I stopped our guide, and fellow photographer, Jeff Bartlett and took half an hour just to shoot this first sight even when I was repeatedly told me that it would get better! I couldn’t believe it when those words became true. Beauty upon beauty assaulted my eyes and not a day went by that I didn’t capture one of my favorite photos of all time.
